ALICE KETTLE : a machine embroiderer of extraordinary talent who receives commissions from all over the world. You will find her work, with a short interview in "STITCH IMAGES 2." It can also be seen on board the P&O ship Oriana where she has installed "Six glimpses of India" in the Curzon Room: believed to be the largest embroidery installation by a single artist in the world. The commission comprises six hangings, each two metres square, depicting groups of Indian people. Another huge commission can be seen in the National Library in Sydney, Australia; and nearer home at Southampton Central Library where there is an installation called 'Creation' comprising four panels. Alice regularly exhibits all over the country (more information from Southern Arts) and can be found at the Contemporary Applied Arts in Covent Garden, where work is on sale throughout the year.
